Dayton OVI Checkpoint (May 29, 2015)

There will be a Dayton OVI checkpoint tonight beginning at 10 p.m.  The Dayton Police Department, along with members of the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County, will hold the sobriety checkpoint in the area of Wayne Avenue and Wyoming Street.  Unlike other recent Dayton OVI checkpoints, there is no indication that this will be a NO-REFUSAL/FORCED BLOOD DRAW checkpoint. Ohio OVI Enforcement Statistics Year-To-Date

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released year-to-date statistics on its Ohio OVI Enforcement.  2014 saw 2,100 arrests for OVI.  There was an increase in 2015 to 2,367 arrests.  Greene County saw arrests jump from 25 in 2014 to 47 this year. Montgomery County jumped from 58 arrests in 2014 to 72 this year. In Clark County the OSP arrested 26 people by this time in 2014 and 32 so far this year. 2015 looks like a bad year to forget to wear your seatbelt with a huge jump of 8,278 arrest vs 6,796 last year. Drug arrests are also significantly up...

No Refusal OVI Checkpoint in Dayton & Springfield Tonight!

There will be a "No-refusal" OVI checkpoint tonight beginning at 8 p.m. at State Routes 68 and 40 in Springfield, Ohio. The Dayton Checkpoint (also a No-Refusal) will begin at 11:30 p.m. at Wayne & Wyoming. A "No Refusal Checkpoint" means that every car will be checked to ensure that drivers are not impaired. If there is sufficient probable cause to believe that a driver is operating a vehicle while impaired, law enforcement will seek a blood search warrant from a "neutral and detached magistrate." Get A Free Ride With Operation Ride Safe
