Dayton DUI Announces Labor Day DUI Effort

The Montgomery County OVI Task Force announced that DUI enforcement will be stepped up for the Labor Day holiday. "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," a nation-wide impaired driving crackdown will begin August 17 and will last until September 7th. The crackdown will include OVI checkpoints, high visibility enforcement, saturation patrols and a national advertising campaign. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers will join forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project to prevent driving while intoxicated on June 29 and 30. There will be an OVI sobriety checkpoint tonight in Clark County, Ohio beginning at 6:00 pm on St. Rt. 235 just south of Mussellman Rd. Miami County OVI Checkpoint Nets Three (3) OVI Arrests

As reported in local news stories [here], the recent Miami County OVI checkpoint resulted in three arrests for OVI. The checkpoint which was set up in Piqua, Ohio along County Road 25A near I-75 stopped 300+ cars. Members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were out in force for "All Out Day" in advance of increased patrols for Memorial Day. You can expect increased vigilance during the build up to the holiday. The Miami Valley is teaming up to make Dayton's St. Patrick's Day celebration a safe one. ENFORCEMENT: The Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County has allocated over 280 OVI patrol hours for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day weekend.
