ACLU Calls for Halt to Ohio Executions

Image via WikipediaCLEVELAND- The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio renewed its call on Governor Strickland to put an immediate halt on all executions in light of fundamental flaws in the execution process. On October 5, Strickland granted a short 5 month reprieve to two inmates who were to be executed in October and November. Recently, state officials said they are considering scrapping the current procedures in favor of methods such as delivering the medications through muscle tissue or bone marrow. Warren County DUI Checkpoint Targets NFL Fans

DUI Checkpoints Cause Problems in California

What started as a routine DUI checkpoint by the Redwood City Police Department July 2 ended with a small crowd in the North Fair Oaks neighborhood yelling, “Gringo, go home,” and “We won, you lost,” according to police on scene after a series of communication between a nonprofit director, a councilwoman and the chief of police.  Seems the government likes checkpoints, just not checkpoints that target their citizens.  It is just another example of DUI checkpoints being a diversion.  Perhaps police could stick to American-style patrols that rely upon constitutional principles to...

Cincinnati DUI Checkpoint Set

Image via WikipediaThe Ohio State Highway Patrol along with units of the Cincinnati Police Department and the Hamilton County OVI Task Force, will conduct a DUI checkpoint Saturday night on Reading Road in Cincinnati.  The random stops will be made on Reading Road just north of Stony Brook Drive in Roselawn from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.  You should also watch out for saturation patrols and units which "chase" you should you turn to avoid the checkpoint.  Share the details of your stop with your Ohio DUI attorney.  Contact Charles M. Kettering DUI Sobriety Checkpoint Announced

Ohio State Highway Patrol Reports No Fatalities Over Holiday Weekend

The Dayton Daily News is reporting that there were no fatal crashes this weekend amongst the four state higway patrol posts covering the Miami Valley.  The local posts were responsible for 64 DUI arrests and report that over 80% of their personnel were "on the road."Throughout the state the OSP is reporting five fatalities, two attributable to an ATV accident and one motorcycle death.  Based on information available on the OSP web site, none of the deaths are "alcohol related."  The OSP is reporting 556 arrests for OVI state-wide over the weekend.  The weekend is a vast improvement over last...
