When I became a Dayton lawyer in 1995, I did all sorts of law. For a while, I practiced complex civil litigation and consumer law. Frequently, I would appear in divorce court in the morning, civil court in the afternoon. Often I would represent all manner of defendants in criminal court.
The thing that changed me from a Dayton lawyer to a DUI lawyer was my time as a part-time prosecutor. I was lucky enough to be offered the job as fill-in prosecuting attorney in the Xenia Municipal Court. That experience taught me that one of the most harsh laws was DUI. What is more, DUI is a crime that carries a great stigma. In addition, it is often enforced with the most draconian measures.
Following that experience, I decided to dedicate my practice to DUI defense. I started DaytonDUI.com and began amassing credentials. I started out wanting to be a great Dayton lawyer, now I knew that my passion was DUI law. Since that decision, I have been named a “SuperLawyer.” I have been named a top DUI lawyer by Time Magazine and Car & Driver Magazine. In addition, I have been showcased on television and radio as a leader in DUI defense. Twice yearly, I conduct a mock trial motion to suppress for the Greene County Police Academy.
