MADD Calls For No Refusal Weekends and Interlock Devices

Kicking off their annual holiday crackdown on drunk driving, local law enforcement and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) held an event which was highlighted by MADD's release of its Report to the Nation.  MADD gave Ohio three out of five stars for its efforts in DUI enforcement.  Ohio’s three stars recognized statewide use of sobriety checkpoints, automatic driver’s license revocation, and enhanced penalties for child endangering while driving under the influence. The two measures MADD said Ohio should implement statewide are ignition interlock systems — Breathalyzers that are connected to a vehicle’s ignition — for all first-time offenders and no-refusal checkpoints...

Springfield Ohio OVI Checkpoint (Sept. 9, 2011)

There will be an OVI sobriety checkpoint tonight in Clark County, Springfiield, Ohio beginning at 8:30 pm.  According to the Clark County Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the location of the checkpoint will be in the 400 block along Burnett Road in Springfield. Dayton OVI Checkpoint Tonight (August 20, 2011)

There will be another OVI checkpoint in Montgomery County tonight.  The checkpoint will be on North Main St. in Dayton near Hillcrest Dr.  The increase d patrols will run through September 5th.  The State Highway Patrol plans to operate 27 sobriety checkpoints throughout the state on Friday through Sunday, said Lt. Anne Ralston, a patrol spokeswoman.  This operation is in conjunction with the national NHTSA-sponsored initiative called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”  Thanks to another grant from the NHTSA, the patrol expects to operate about 100 checkpoints this year, about double the number run last year. Trotwood OVI Checkpoint Tonight (August 19, 2011)

The Trotwood Police Department in Montgomery County, along with other jurisdictions, will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint Friday in the 4300 block of Salem Avenue (near Meadow).  The checkpoint is scheduled to get begin at 8:30 p.m. and end at 2 a.m.  This checkpoint is part of the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign and will include saturation patrols.  There will be another OVI checkpoint in Dayton tomorrow. OVI Checkpoints in Multiple Counties Planned Through Labor Day

Hear ye, hear ye! Ohio's Checkpoint Weekend Has Begun The State Highway Patrol plans to operate 27 sobriety checkpoints throughout the state on Friday through Sunday, said Lt. Anne Ralston, a patrol spokeswoman.  This operation is in conjunction with the national NHTSA-sponsored initiative called "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."  Thanks to another grant from the NHTSA, the patrol expects to operate about 100 checkpoints this year, about double the number run last year. In addition to grants, the patrol is using its nearly $450,000 to pay overtime hours to run alcohol-enforcement efforts, including the checkpoints and extra “saturation” patrols that cruise roadways...

Dayton’s DUI Task Force Announces “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”

Today the Combined Agency OVI Task Force for Montgomery County announced that it will participate in a major law enforcement initiative call "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."  The nationwide effort will operate from August 19 to September 5th and will join forces of over 10,000 law enforcement agencies.  The press release says that over 500 extra patrol hours have been allocated and at least two OVI checkpoints have been scheduled.  Like other campaigns, this effort will be supported by a media blitz in an effort to maximize the deterrent impact.  For more on the campaign visit the High Visibility...
