Central Nervous System Depressants

CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DEPRESSANTS - A PRIMER The category of Central Nervous System Depressants includes some of the most commonly abused drugs. Alcohol – the most familiar drug of all – is abused by an estimated 40-50 million Americans. Central nervous system agents are drugs that affect the central nervous system i.e. the brain and the spinal cord, and produce a response that could be used to alleviate or treat a particular medical condition. Central nervous system agents can be used as analgesics, anesthetics, anti-emetics, anti-convulsants, and have many more therapeutic uses. Slightly more than half of Americans age 12 or...

Dedicated to DUI Defense

When you cruise the internet looking for DUI Defense Attorneys, be sure to look for these buzz words. "The DUI lawyer(S)" "Our DUI Team" - This means that more than one member of the firm could be responsible for handling your charge.  It is not uncommon to not know who will show up to handle your case until the court date. It is also not uncommon to be under the assumption that the attorney you met with will be "your" attorney.  Ask who will represent me at your initial consultation. At Babb & Rowland, the only person who will handle your case...

The End of DUI?

Will We Live To See The End of DUI? One of the most frequently asked questions I get is, "Did Uber kill your business?"  Occasionally, someone will ask about the arrival of self-driving cars. Well, the unfortunate truth is that neither self-driving cars or the Uber/Lyft phenomena is a panacea. Self-Driving Cars Self-driving cars have a great potential to stop DUI drivers.  But...

Happy Labor Day from Dayton DUI

Happy Labor Day from Dayton DUI!  Dayton DUI will be closed in honor of America's workers. If you need to reach me, call my 24 hour number at (937) 776-2671. Labor day means a great deal to me. My father started out in the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen which became the United Transportation Union.  My Mom was a proud member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).   Without the good wages and benefits provided by their shared sacrifice, I could never have gone to college.  We had a placard in our house given to my dad...

Are You The Best DUI Attorney? Here Is My CV…

Are You The Best DUI Attorney? Someone called my office the other day and demanded an answer. "I want the best DUI attorney, Is that you?" Believe it or not, I have encountered this question a few times. I always answer by saying, "I have experience, credentials and a great track record, but you should sit down with me and see if I'm right for you."  The truth is that you have to choose an attorney who is qualified.  Once they pass that test, you have to judge them on a more intuitive level. Do you like them? Has their staff...

With the return of the summer boating season, many people will soon be enjoying Ohio's beautiful lakes and rivers.  This is a reminder that Ohio is cracking down on captains who indulge in alcohol while on the water.  Boating Under the Influence is illegal in Ohio. 2001 Sub. Do Not Give Your Dog Beer!

Do Not Give Your Dog Beer! No matter how much you think your best friend may want to share a beer with you, it is not a good idea. Dogs have a much smaller liver and are incapable of processing alcohol. If the amount of alcohol overwhelms their liver it could be fatal. Having too much alcohol will cause a dog's central nervous system to slow down their breathing and heart rate and can lead to a coma and death. Too much alcohol can make a dog's blood to acidic which could lead to cardiac arrest. Disturbed kidney function, dehydration and low...
