Xenia Ohio’s Greene County Courthouse

Greene County Courthouse The Greene County Courthouse was designed by architect Samuel Hannaford and built in 1902. Located at 45 North Detroit St. in the county seat of Xenia, the building is still in use and today houses the Greene County Court of Common Pleas and its probate court. The courthouse features Richardsonian Romanesque style architecture and is made of solid Bedford stone. Above the main courtroom is a large, 18-foot-by-10-foot stained glass window titled “Justice is Blind.” The structure survived a tornado in 1974 with very little damage; however, the town of Xenia was heavily damaged and 34 people were killed.Greene...

Xenia DUI Salutes Philopotes & Dionysus

Xenia, Ohio is named after the Greek word for "hospitality."  Besides the name for Greene County's seat of government, we owe a great debt to Greek culture and ideals. If you could wander around the Aegean coast around 700 B.C. you would find an abundance of alcohol; wine specifically.  The libation was a mainstay of Hellenistic society and it was used to honor the gods, as currency, as medicine, as a thirst-quencher and to get drunk.  In fact, using alcohol was considered a civic duty in Athens.  At great gatherings and feasts officials, known as oinoptai made sure that the wine...

Kettering DUI; Probable Cause vs. Reasonable Articulable Suspicion

I recently encountered a factual question in a case in the Kettering Municipal Court involving the reason that the officer stopped my client.  Below is the case law which sets forth the two standards used to justify a traffic stop in Ohio. Visit www.KetteringDUI.com for information about the Kettering Municipal Court. In State v. Moore, 2008-Ohio-2407, the 3rd District Court of Appeals reversed course on its prior decision in State v. Phillips, 2006-Ohio-6338and held that an officer had reasonable articulable suspicion to initiate a traffic stop when the Defendant's vehicle drifted approximately 1/2 a car width over the fog line and off the road...

Springfield DUI Information

[caption id="attachment_1567" align="alignright" width="180" caption="www.SpringfieldDUI.com"][/caption]In response to a recent inquiry from my website, www.SpringfieldDUI.com, here is the web site for the Clark County Municipal Court.  The Clark County Sheriff is the entity responsible for maintaining the jail.  Searches for information on Springfield DUI attorneys is difficult because every state in the union has a city named Springfield.  Many "Springfields" are in or near major metropolitan markets which causes attorneys (and other service providers) to pay big money to be placed whenever a person searches for the keyword "Springfield."  Compounding the problem is that our beloved Springfield, Ohio is located in...
