72 Hour Programs In The Miami County Municipal Court

According to its website, the Miami County Municipal Court has approved the following 72 hour OVI residential programs:Addiction Resource Center (ARC) - 937-767-0178Drivers Intervention Program (DIP) - 937-492-8080Weekend Intervention Program (WIP) - 937-775-3050Buckeye Driver Intervention Program: Vandalia and Piqua - 937-415-0701The 72 hour residential program is usually a requirement following an OVI arrest in the Miami County Municipal Court. Do I Need To Appear In The Miamisburg Municipal Court?

For anyone facing a DUI charge in the Miamisburg Municipal Court your first appearance in court will be a mandatory appearance unless you hire an attorney prior to the date.  The first appearance (called an arraignment) on a DUI charge requires an appearance. Mandatory Appearances In The Kettering Municipal Court

Some people who are charged with an OVI in the Kettering Municipal Court think that they can skip their first appearance. This is not the case.  Many traffic and some criminal citations are payable in the Clerk’s Office and do not require a court appearance in front of the judge. These are called “waiverable” citations. You can choose to appear before the judge on your court date for these citations. Dayton Cop Block Protests At OVI Checkpoint

The controversy surrounding OVI checkpoints continues.  Citizens opposing the infringement on their Constitutional rights gathered together recently to protest at the OVI checkpoint held in Washington Township on March 17th (St. Patrick's Day).  The Dayton Cop Block organization vows to be present at other OVI checkpoints in the Miami Valley.As you watch the video you will see both protesters and police behaving very well.  The police officers are doing what they can to keep people safe and the protesters are voicing their dissent in a peaceful way. Kettering Municipal Court Statistics Show Drop In Cases

The Kettering Municipal Court appears to have experienced a significant reduction in the number of cases it is handling.  According to statistics HERE, the number of cases heard has dropped from 17,369 in 2013 to 15,819 in 2014.  But that does not tell the whole story.Despite the drop in total number of cases, criminal cases are up. The court dealt with 2,707 criminal cases in 2013 and saw that number rise to 2,876 in 2014.  Similarly, civil/small claims filing rose from 1,219 to 1,364.  The drop looks to be a reduced traffic docket.  Traffic cases dropped from 13,443 in 2013...

Middletown OVI Checkpoint (Friday, March 14, 2015)

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced a Middletown OVI checkpoint tonight beginning at 9 p.m. at Verity Parkway/Rt. 4 near 18th Ave.  This is part of the statewide, grant-funded St. Patrick's Day enforcement effort.
