Miami County OVI Checkpoint Nets Three (3) OVI Arrests

As reported in local news stories [here], the recent Miami County OVI checkpoint resulted in three arrests for OVI.  The checkpoint which was set up in Piqua, Ohio along County Road 25A near I-75 stopped 300+ cars.  Members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were out in force for "All Out Day" in advance of increased patrols for Memorial Day. OVI Checkpoint In Greene County (May 11, 2012)

Law enforcement officials will conduct an OVI checkpoint along Col. Boating Season Is Approaching Which Means Increased Watercraft Patrols.Boating Under the Influence is illegal in Ohio. 2001 Sub. S.B. 123, eff. 1-1-04 sought to unify the drunk driving provisions with Ohio’s boating laws.   O.R.C. 1547.11(A)(1)  to O.R.C. 1547.11(A)(6) prohibit a person from operating or being in physical control of a vessel underway or manipulating water skis, aquaplanes, or similar devices while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.O.R.C. 1547.11(A)(1) is the impairment provision of the law, preventing operation or physical control while under the influence.  The law also has a provision preventing operation with a prohibited level of alcohol...

Toledo DUI: Circle Toledo Enforcement Initiative Announced

More than 30 different police agencies in the Toledo Metro Area will take part in Circle Toledo, which will start Friday and run through Saturday.  Similar to recent enforcement efforts in Columbus, the Patrol will be on the look out for any reason to pull over drivers who they suspect may be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Toledo may have been chosen because the area has seen an increase in traffic fatalities from 19 to 31 over the same time period from last year.  The Circle Toledo blitz will run for the next four weeks.   DUI attorney Charles M....
