Middletown OVI Checkpoint Tonight (Nov. 23rd)

The Middletown Police Department, in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Butler County DUI Task Force will be conducting an OVI checkpoint tonight from 11pm until 3 am along Rt. 4.  The DUI checkpoint will be augmented with saturation patrols in the surrounding areas targeting potentially impaired drivers. DUI Patrols Increased For Thanksgiving in Clark and Montgomery Counties

OVI Checkpoints In Clark and Montgomery County Slated for the Wednesday Before Thanksgiving A grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will allow law enforcement agencies in Clark, Butler and Montgomery Counties to increase DUI/OVI patrols over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  The Springfield Police Division and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office will use 48 overtime hours through Sunday targeting drivers under the influence.  The Butler County Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols by up to 150 overtime hours during the same time frame.  Carlene Maynes, coordinator of the Montgomery County OVI Task Force, said 18 agencies, including the Dayton Police Department,...

Logan County, Ohio and Union County, Ohio Thanksgiving DUI Initiative

Thanksgiving To Bring Increased Patrols Along U.S. 33 The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced a law enforcement initiative that will have more troopers patrolling along the U.S. 33 corridor.  Beginning Wednesday and running through Sunday, Troopers and other law enforcement will perform traffic stops along U.S. 33 with the goal of reducing crashes, deterring criminal activity and increasing use of seat belts throughout the corridor.  Troopers will focus on apprehending impaired drivers, detecting criminal activity, seat belt compliance, distracted drivers and commercial vehicle violations.  According to the Post, increased vigilance is necessary due to increased drug...

The Ohio Dept. of Public Safety announced numbers showing accidents down, fewer fatalities and only three alcohol-related fatalities throughout the state (down from 10 last year).   Our hope here at Dayton DUI is that drivers are motivated to make good decisions about alcohol use and that a designated driver is used when necessary. Ohio Holiday Enforcement Initiative

Patrol announces two-week Holiday enforcement initiative The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced statewide plans for a two-week enforcement initiative which will begin Veteran's Day and run through Thanksgiving weekend in an effort to reduce fatal and injury crashes on area roads, while also arresting impaired drivers, apprehending wanted felons and interdicting drugs and weapons.  This initiative is the first in a series of initiatives that are planned throughout the rest of the year.Troopers will work closely with local law enforcement agencies in tactical squads to strictly enforce known crash-causing violations such as failure to yield, improper passing/lane changes, unsafe speed, and...
