Warren County Sheriff’s deputies will be out in force starting St. Patrick’s Day, Wednesday, March 17, through Sunday, March 21 as part of a traffic enforcement blitz.

The county received a Select Traffic Enforcement Grant from the state to cover overtime for the increased number of deputies on duty during the various holiday periods in 2010 in an effort to reduce holiday fatalities, according to Sheriff Larry Sims.

Sims said deputies will be working with other area law enforcement agencies targeting specific areas of enforcement, primarily speeding, seat belt violators and those driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Sims urged drivers attending St. Patrick’s Day festivities to seek alternative transportation such as designated drivers or cabs instead of drinking and driving.
