ENFORCEMENT: The Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County has allocated over 280 OVI patrol hours for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day weekend.  In addition, the OVI Task Force will conduct two OVI checkpoints throughout the weekend.  “Driving is simply not worth the risk,” warns Task Force spokesman John DiPietro.

PREVENTION: This effort will be combined with the return of “Operation Arrive Safe,”  an innovative and successful program administered by Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, AAA Miami Valley, Sandy’s Towing and Heidelberg Distributors.  You can take advantage of this free program by calling (937) 449-9999 anytime between Friday March 16th at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 18th at 6:00 a.m.  The free cab rides are available to Montgomery County residents and cover fares up to $50.

Three of Dayton’s most popular St. Patrick’s Day destinations, Flanagan’s Pub, The Dublin Pub and Boston’s Bistro will offer free non-alcoholic beverages to designated drivers.  The Crown Plaza will be offering a special “Dublin Pub” rate to party goers.  For this special rate call (937) 224-0800.  To make things even easier, Flanagan’s and the Dublin Pub are sponsoring a free shuttle to run you back and forth from the Crown Plaza.  Free parking is available to Flanagan Pub guests at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds and that have arranged it so that cars can stay there overnight if necessary.

PLANNING AHEAD:  Law enforcement will be out to deter drunk driving.  Free cab rides are available.  Dayton businesses are stepping up to offer alternatives to driving.  The only piece of the puzzle that remains is you.  By planning ahead to designate a sober driver, having a contingency plan and behaving responsibly, you won’t need to contact me.  If, however, you find yourself in need of an OVI attorney, contact my 24/7 DUI Hot-line at (937) 776-2671.  Be safe and make this St. Pat’s the best ever.
